'67 Vapid Dominator Buggy

A 1967 Vapid Dominator that's been stripped to a frame and rebuilt as an off-roader. It's got a roll cage, a roof-mounted lamp bar, cut arches and knobbly tyres, all on a body that started life as a muscle car.

Rockstar keeps it at Paradise Garage in Watson Bay, and it comes with a weapon locker and stash box attached.

The weapon locker is what makes it useful

That locker matters more than the car does. In Grand Theft Auto 6 the larger weapons live in your vehicle and you carry less on your body, so your car becomes part of your loadout. A bonus vehicle that ships with its own weapon locker is a reward you'll actually use, and the looks come second.

It also confirms that storage is a property some vehicles have. So cars won't all be the same identical container with different paint on top.

Edge's 29 October cover feature backs that up from a Rockstar demo. It reports that your weapons are kept in the vehicle's boot and you go back to the car to get them, and that every vehicle has a fuel gauge and engine health. So a cut-down sixties muscle car you take out into the swamp is one you'll want to keep fuelled and in one piece.

Vapid and the Dominator

Vapid is Rockstar's Ford. The Dominator's been its Mustang since Grand Theft Auto IV, and a 1967 Dominator is squarely the first-generation fastback everyone pictures when they think of one.

Turning that particular car into a mud buggy is a properly Floridian idea. Cutting up a valuable classic so you can drive it through a swamp is the sort of thing that happens where land is wet, space is cheap and nobody's precious about a car.

Where you'll want it

Grassrivers and the wetland tracks, and the back country around Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga. That's where a cage, a lamp bar and knobbly tyres earn their keep. On Ocean Drive it'll be a liability.

What isn't known

Rockstar hasn't said how much the weapon locker holds. It also hasn't said whether stash boxes turn up on other vehicles, or whether a standard Dominator is in the base game.
