The six regions of Leonida, and what Rockstar has shown of each
Vice City is the headline, but the state around it runs from swamp to sugar refinery to a faded holiday coast.
By Wes Calloway

Leonida is Rockstar's Florida, and by Rockstar's own preview comparison it's around three times the size of the Red Dead Redemption 2 world. Six regions have been confirmed. Below is what each one actually is, and what we can actually verify about it.
| Region | What it is | Real-world analogue |
|---|---|---|
| Vice City | The modern Miami at the centre of everything | Miami |
| Leonida Keys | Resort islands, dive boats, smuggling routes | The Florida Keys |
| Grassrivers | Sawgrass wetland, airboats, alligators | The Everglades |
| Port Gellhorn | A holiday town that stopped being one | The faded Gulf coast |
| Ambrosia | Industrial interior, sugar refinery, lakeside | Belle Glade and Clewiston |
| Mount Kalaga | Forest, lakes, high ground, dangerous wildlife | No close counterpart |
Vice City
The modern-day Miami at the centre of everything, and roughly twice the size of Los Santos on its own. Beachfront art deco and neon, a high-rise downtown, the Pagasi residences on the water.
It's the region that has actual district names attached, and they arrived two different ways: some were read off shop signage in footage, and some Rockstar wrote down itself, in the copy explaining where your bonus car's parked. We keep the full list. Full entry: Vice City.

Leonida Keys
Resort islands and coastline: dive boats, beach bars, tourists. It's also where Jason was working for drug runners before the story starts, living rent-free on Brian Heder's boat yard.
The holiday economy and the smuggling economy share the same water, and that's the whole point of the region. A causeway runs out to it from the mainland, and you can see it in Trailer 1. Full entry: Leonida Keys.
Grassrivers
The Everglades analogue. Sawgrass, airboats, alligators, and the setting for the most striking shot in the official screenshot set: three police airboats closing in across open wetland with a helicopter above.
Airboats ignore depth, so there aren't any chokepoints to lose a pursuit at. That makes for a different kind of chase from anything the series has built before. Full entry: Grassrivers.

Port Gellhorn
The forgotten coast. It's a holiday town that stopped being one, full of cheap motels and shuttered attractions: the Starlet Motel, Delight's Cabaret, a pawn and gun shop.
Historically, this kind of place is where Rockstar hides its best side content, because a region with no money in it gives the writing room to breathe. Full entry: Port Gellhorn.
Ambrosia
The industrial interior beside Lake Leonida, with the Allied Crystal sugar refinery looming over it. It's apparently also home to the Thrillbilly Mud Club.
One detail we like, because it tells you something about the road network: Ambrosia's signposted from a causeway on the edge of Vice City, off US 35 North. It's a long way inland, and Rockstar expects you to drive there. Full entry: Ambrosia.
Mount Kalaga National Park
Remote high ground: lakes, rivers, forest and properly dangerous wildlife. It's the closest thing Leonida has to Red Dead Redemption 2's Ambarino.
It's there partly because Florida is flat, and a map with no elevation reads as smaller than it is. Full entry: Mount Kalaga.
There's still no official map
Rockstar still hasn't released a map. What there is instead is the community mapping project, which rebuilds the coastline by triangulating landmarks across official footage, plus whatever you can read straight off signage in the trailers.
Two place names, Southside and Peacock Bay, show up on a road sign and nowhere else at all, so six regions might not be the final word on how the state's divided up. More on our map page.
