Jason's Girardi ES9 and Lucia's Klose K17
Both leads get a named, personally engraved sidearm. The names tell you more than the engraving does.
The Ultimate Edition includes personalised sidearms for both leads: a Girardi ES9 for Jason and a Klose K17 for Lucia, both with detailed engraving.
The first guns Rockstar has named
This is the first time Rockstar's given Grand Theft Auto 6 guns full manufacturer-and-model names in official copy. Everything else going around is a community identification off a trailer frame, and that's why our weapons list is so short.
Two named manufacturers is a small thing, but it tells you the game has a proper firearms catalogue behind it, set up the way the vehicle catalogue is, with brands that'll keep turning up.
One pistol each
Grand Theft Auto V gave its three leads special abilities and an identical arsenal. Here Jason and Lucia each get their own named pistol, with no shared pool, and that fits a game built around switching between two people whose relationship is itself a tracked system.
It fits the carry limit too. If a sidearm's the one weapon that's always on you, then it's the character's weapon in a way no rifle in a boot will ever be.
Edge's 29 October cover feature fills in how carrying works, from a Rockstar demo. Bigger guns live in your vehicle's boot. In one scene Jason takes a shotgun out of the boot of a police car and carries it on his back, and people in the street react differently to a gun on your back and one in your hand. Carrying one isn't a crime on its own, and Edge says putting it away before things escalate can help.
What the shot shows
Two pistols laid out on a table. One's plain and black, and the other's red and chrome with heavy engraving across the slide and grip. Rockstar hasn't labelled which is which in the image, so we're not going to guess.
What isn't known
We don't know which pistol in the image belongs to which character. Rockstar also hasn't said whether the ES9 and K17 exist in plain form in the base game, or whether the engraving's purely cosmetic or ties into weapon condition and the evidence system.
