Did Rockstar really try to get Daft Punk back together for GTA 6?
A music leaker says Daft Punk were offered "a final comeback" and an open budget, and that Justice were Rockstar's second choice. Nobody's confirmed it.
By Wes Calloway

This one's a rumour, and a fun one. On 19 October the music leaker Has It Leaked posted on X that Rockstar went to Daft Punk's management and pitched "a final comeback" for GTA 6, with "essentially an unlimited budget".
Daft Punk split in 2021. According to the same post, they said no, and "Justice were Rockstar's second choice".
Why people are taking it half seriously
Has It Leaked has been around a long time and says they've been breaking Daft Punk and Justice news for over ten years. When someone replied "Source: I made this up", the account just said "Check my record".
It also lines up with something that is real. Justice did end up on GTA 6. They're on Grand Theft Auto 6: The Album, the 34-track record Rockstar announced, and NME reports they've made an original score for the game too. If you were Rockstar and wanted French electronic music in Vice City, Daft Punk first and Justice second would make a lot of sense.

Why it might not be true
It's one account, with no documents and nobody else backing it up. Rockstar hasn't commented, Daft Punk haven't, and Justice haven't. "Unlimited budget" is also exactly the kind of detail that makes a story spread.
So treat it as a good rumour and nothing more. What we do know about the music is in our radio station guide, and we'll update it when the full tracklist is out.
