Will GTA 6 come to PC, and when

No PC version has been announced. Rockstar's own history is the only guide, and it points somewhere between early 2027 and mid 2028.

Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Rockstar hasn't announced a PC version, hasn't given a window, and hasn't said anything on the record about one existing.

That's everything that's confirmed. We don't know whether a PC version is even in development, when it'd arrive, whether it'd include anything the console release doesn't, or what you'd need to run it, and Rockstar hasn't commented on any of it. Everything below is pattern-reading, and anybody giving you a date is doing the same thing with more confidence than the evidence supports.

How long Rockstar usually makes PC players wait

Every recent Rockstar release has come to PC late, and the gap has varied a lot:

  • Grand Theft Auto IV: about 7 months
  • Red Dead Redemption 2: about 12 months
  • Grand Theft Auto V: about 19 months

Put that range against a 19 November 2026 console launch and you get anywhere from roughly June 2027 at the fast end to mid 2028 at the slow end. The expectation you'll see quoted most sits at 12 to 19 months, so late 2027 into 2028.

Why it might be shorter this time

Reporting in early September has suggested the wait may be shorter than the Grand Theft Auto V precedent, and there are decent arguments for it.

The 19-month gap on Grand Theft Auto V came out of its era. That game launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, and the PC version was basically a remaster built alongside the next-generation console ports. Grand Theft Auto 6 is being built for current hardware from the start, so most of that work just isn't there.

The other argument is Take-Two's fiscal calendar. The company's year ends in March, and a PC release makes an obvious anchor for a quarter that'd otherwise be quiet. That's why February 2027 keeps getting mentioned. Nobody's actually heard anything about it.

Why it might not be

The delay's never been purely technical. A staggered release sells the game twice to a meaningful number of people, and it protects console launch sales in the window that matters most.

There's also the fact that a PC build is the easiest thing in the world to pull apart, and Rockstar's spent four years being extremely careful about what leaves the building.

If you only play on PC

Plan for 2028 and treat anything earlier as a bonus. It's the least disappointing way to hold it, and if a date does turn up sooner, you get a nice surprise.
